Our Out & about minibus is a Renault Master. It is intended for use by passengers who need to use wheelchairs or who find getting in or out of a car difficult or impossible
The scheme is for frail elderly people or people with a disability who find public transport very difficult to use. Passengers may bring an escort.
This service is available to individuals and organisations or groups whose members include people who need to use accessible transport.
The bus has 8 seats, a tail lift and tracking to accommodate two wheelchairs in safety and comfort.
The Out & About Bus is available for day to day use between 9am and 3pm Monday to Friday (For Day to Day use we will always supply a driver) and is available for community use / Private Hire after 5pm Monday to Friday and at weekends, with a volunteer minibus driver.
Payment is paid direct to the driver who issues a receipt unless otherwise stated when requesting transport
Regular Booking may be invoiced on a monthly basis
Passengers are responsible for any car parking charges
Half Day (30 miles) £30.00 plus mileage and VAT (includes 30 miles)
Full Day (50 miles) £50.00 plus mileage and VAT (includes 50 miles)
Excess miles are charged at 50p a mile
Community group / Private hire bookings will be invoiced to the group on completion of your journey
Insurance is included, but in the event of an accident, the community groupwill be liable for the excess charge of £100. To redice the burden on individual groups a contribution of £2.00 per hire is requested to build up a fund to pay the excess
Charges are reviewed annually in June.
We curently have three Voluntary Community Minibus drivers, with a variety of flexibility. Arrangements will be confirmed by telephone including name of the driver and the approximate cost calculated on miles travelled.
If your community group has someone with a D1 on their licence and is willing to complete the DCC training, please contact us to arrange the training a least a month prior to you private hire date. By having your own driver this will help ensure your private hire can take place
The bus will be supplied with a full tank of fuel and it should be returned without refueling it, unless otherwise arranged prior to the journey taken place.
Call us at least two working days before your journey on 01884 242099, Monday to Thursday from 9am to 5pm and Friday from 9am to 4.30pm. If we are unable to take your call please leave your name and telephone number and we will ring back.
We will need the following details:
Community groups must be registered with Devon County Council and pay by invoice.
Cancellations must be notified as soon as possible to save the driver a wasted trip.
If for some reason (e.g. breakdown or driver illness) the trip has to be cancelled, you will be contacted and if possible alternative arrangements made.
Block bookings may not be possible as this will restrict availability to others.
